Hickory’s Hall Banquet and Event Center HUNKY DORY CHRISTMAS Hickory’s Hall will be hosting a Hunky Dory reunion holiday party featuring Danny Grause and the Uncle Tater Band on Saturday, December 19, 2009. A 21 and up show, doors will open at 7:30 p.m. with a $5 cover. Many people still remember the Ames country bar Hunky Dory’s, which was turned into Hickory’s Hall Banquet and Event Center 8 years ago. Hickory’s Hall, although now used as a banquet hall and wedding reception facility, still has many of the colorful and unique attributes that Hunky Dory’s was known for, such as the rotating neon-lighted palm trees. Hickory’s Hall Banquet and Event Center is located at 300 South 17th Street in Ames (right next to Ames Racquet and Fitness Center South and around the corner from Old Chicago Restaurant).
